Day 1 – It was an early morning two-hour flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Our brother with his pickup truck drove us to Phetchabun in another 5 hours before we finally reached home. We were very tired after the long journey so we spent the rest of the day in the house.
Day 2 - In the afternoon, we set off towards Tesco Lotus in Phetchabun to load up items we need for the rest of the stay like diapers, drinks and toiletries. Next we headed to the nearby Nam Tok Tat Mok, unfortunately we headed the long way and found Nam Tok Erawan which is a small but rocky waterfall. By the time we found Nam Tok Tat Mok, it is already closed for the day and we could only take a few pictures from the viewpoint below.
Day 3 - After the tiring trip in search of Nam Tok Tat Mok, we decided to check out the nearby Nam Tok Tharn Thip. It is only a short 10-minute drive from our house in Bung Nam Tao. The water is cool but it looked muddy as it had rained earlier. Later that day, we rode on our motorbike to Talad Bung Khla to buy some food for dinner.
Day 4 – We went to visit our brother’s pancake stall at Talad Tharn Thip, just before the waterfall. It was a small market and we decided to check out another Talad at Bung Khla, this time on the other side of the road.
Day 5 – In the morning, we visited Wat Non Thong which is just a minute’s drive from our house to see the monk for prayers and directions. Without having said anything, he could tell me what’s not so good for me and my family and what we should do in future. Very accurate. In the afternoon we drove to Tesco Lotus again and this time, there was a small bazaar just outside, in the middle of the carpark.
Day 6 – On the way towards Khao Kho National Park, we stopped over at the City Shrine at Lom Sak for some prayers. The journey to Khao Kho was curvy and steep but thankfully there were plenty of places to visit along the way. We visited a stopover with stalls selling local produce and tribal clothes and ornaments, Khao Kho Highland Resort, B.N Farm, It-Thi Fire Support Base, Khao Kho Khao Kho Memorial, stopped at a restaurant for early dinner before ending the mountainous trip at Khao Kho Palace. Even though it is the hot and rainy season, the weather up there was very good and the wind cool. I would love to visit Khao Kho again during the cold season from November to February. During the evening we visited the bigger Talad at Wat Tham Sombat near the army camp.
Day 7 and 8 - Both days we did nothing much except exploring the neighbourhood and Lom Sak. Although Lom Sak is smaller than Phetchabun, it seemed to me that Lom Sak has more buzz than Phetchabun. In the day, Lom Sak Market area is busy and in the late afternoon, roadside stalls begin to open for business. In the evening, the roads is beautifully lit and I could see a a few places for the young to hang out like karaoke music boxes and beer gardens.
Day 9 – After experiencing the tiring 5-hour drive plus a 2-hour flght, we decided to spend a night in Bangkok before leaving for Singapore the next day. We chose to stay at a 1400 baht per night hotel in Sri Nakarin, Bang Na District which is only a 20-min drive to the airport. Along the main road of this hotel there is this Seacon Sqaure so huge we got lost in it.
Day 10 – Back to Singapore!
